In case the videos above aren't enough, LP Building Products recently asked the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to evaluate the impact resistance of engineered wood siding from the LP SmartSide brand and fiber cement siding.
Damage resistance was evaluated after shooting baseballs, golf balls, marbles and rocks at the siding products using a single stage light gas gun.
The NASA written evaluation states that, under similar conditions, with all four projectiles, more damage was sustained by the fiber cement siding product than the LP SmartSide engineered wood siding product.
